Symptoms of Paranoid Schizophrenia
Some symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia are auditory hallucinations, delusions, anxiety, aggressiveness, suicidal thoughts and detachment.
Auditory Hallucinations: is when the person hears voices even when there is no one there. This would cause them to have delusions, which means that their beliefs on a subject is not real and has no evidence that would support it. Some paranoid schizophrenic patients can also become anxious at times when they become ‘paranoid’ about things. Others can become aggressive and violence may occur from these patients. Sometimes the patient can be detached from the real world, emotionally or physically as well. Paranoid schizophrenic patients may notice other people around them and become suspicious about other people, so they come up with statements such as “I wish I was dead”, or “I wish I was never born”. Some of these symptoms can be noticeable, but other time, paranoid schizophrenic patients may keep it as a secret.
These symptoms can lead up to some possible complications of paranoid schizophrenia such as:
- depression
- malnutrition
- hygiene problems
- homelessness
- unemployment
- being a victim of crime
- becoming a heavy drinker or smoker.
